MY FAVORITE QUILTS: A Coloring Book for Quilters and Friends

This wonderful book of quilting patterns was created by Dena Twite. All the work in this book is original designs that she has created for quilters to use and enjoy. The beauty of this book is you can color your own quilt before going and getting the material to make the quilt with. So you can see how your colors will work with that pattern. The book contains 70 pages of quilt patterns to color and all are listed in the index, so you may quickly find your favorite pattern.

Dena also sells the patterns to each quilt, and there is an order form in the back of the book for this purpose. The patterns come complete with yardage requirements for each quilt based on the size you wish to make and templates for the quilt forms.

Dena Twite is a local artist and lives near me in Cottage Grove. Dena made her first quilt when she was expecting her first child, about 35 years ago, and has been quilting ever since. Dena has attended many quilting classes to learn a variety of methods and has even developed some of her own methods in quilting. Dena has made quilts for church groups, and for "Comforts for Children", a group that makes comfort quilts for at-risk children. Dena began designing her own patterns back in 1992, and in 2001 started using the help of a computer to assist her in the design process. In Dena's own words,"So why a coloring book, why not. Not only is it an easier way of trying out a variety of colors but cost effective in the long run."

She asked me to take a look at her book and I was impressed. I'm not an avid quilter as I am into other fiber hobbies, but have done some quilting in the past. When I saw this book I fell in love with it! The book is professionally published and is copyrighted and has a an ISBN number. As a teacher, I looked at her book and thought what fun to color the quilts as an art project with my students! Then pick one of the designs and make a quilt to raffle off as a fund raiser for our classroom!

Below are some of the many patterns you will find in Dena's Quilt pattern book.
